About Me

David McConnico: My name is David and I was born and raised in Austin. I am a fifth generation Texan from a yellow dog democrat family. According to the Pew test I am solidly liberal. I think gay people should be able to get married and adopt children. I also think people who make the most should be taxed more than everyone else. My political influences are former Texas Lt. Governor Bob Bullock and former President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Both put doing what was right for their state and their country above party lines. I have worked as a voter registrar and as a volunteer for a few local political campaigns. I am taking this class as a requirement for my associate's degree in Spanish but I thoroughly enjoy politics. This is a tumultuous time politically speaking in our country. I hope to learn more of our political history; why things are set up the way they are. I scored a 90% in the Civic Literacy quiz and I a scored a 100% in the Pew Current Events quiz.
